Frequently Asked Questions

Why do hikers wear baselayers?

Baselayers, typically made with moisture wicking fabric, help to keep the body feeling dry and comfortable during physical activity.

What sock should I wear over a Liner sock?

We recommend wearing traditional hiking socks over your Liner socks. Ensure they are made with moisture-wicking fabric and choose a cushion that fits your comfort level. Check out the Injinji Hiker series for a style designed specifically to pair with the Liner for hiking, and the Runner series for extra cushion while running.

What is the difference between the Liner Crew and the Liner Crew Wool?

The Liner Crew and new Liner Mini-Crew socks are made with COOLMAX® EcoMade, a recycled polyester fiber known for its moisture-wicking properties. These lightweight baselayer hiking socks can be worn solo for increased blister protection and moisture management, or with a thicker sock layered on top for added cushion and comfort. The Liner Crew Wool has the same lightweight silhouette, but packs in additional benefits of odor resistance and temperature regulation.

Can I wear a Liner sock by itself, without an outer sock?

You can absolutely wear the Liner sock by itself, but it is recommended that you reserve this for low-impact days, as the Liner's ultra-thin, quick drying design does not incorporate extra cushioning. If you're looking for a cushioned hiking toesock that can be worn alone on big adventure days, check out the Outdoor series.

Versatile Height Options

The Injinji Liner series is available in Mini-Crew (ankle) and Crew (mid-calf) heights.

Injinji Liners are the ultimate baselayer socks. They quickly wick away moisture, and have an ultra-thin ergonomic fit that won’t bunch up or slip under your outer socks. The five-toe design forms to the contour of your foot, allowing for natural, restriction-free movement, and – with each toe separated – skin-on-skin contact between the toes is eliminated, helping to prevent blisters. These ultra-thin styles also work as fast and light socks for warm weather hikes and runs.
