This past weekend was the San Diego 100, a 100 mile trail race through the Cleveland National Forest in East County San Diego. The SD100 is proving itself year after year, largely in part to the amazing RD Scotty Mills, dedicated/enthusiastic/awesome volunteers, and a field of runners that continually impress and inspire. Besides Injinji being a presenting sponsor of the race, we have vested interest in the event due to our personal relationships with all the people involved and the beautiful SoCal location. We have done everything from trail markings to photo-shoots in the Cleveland Forest, and truly find any excuse to get out there. Quite frankly if RD Scotty Mills decided he wanted to hold a tandem stationary bike race, we would jump at the opportunity to be involved.
The 2013 IAU 24-Hour World Championships recently took place in Steenbergen, Netherlands. The American team delivered a solid performance and Team Injinji’s own Jon Olsen won the individual men's gold. The American men’s and women’s also took home team gold. Below is Jon Olsen’s account of his experience before and after the race:
The talented, charismatic, and downright hilarious Christina Kim rolled through San Diego on the LPGA Tour last week and paid us a visit to Injinji HQ. A California native, Christina has golfed professionally since the age of 18. She has made a name for herself with multiple wins around the world tours and has proudly represented the USA three times in the biannual prestigious Solheim cup. What’s more-- she is a die-hard Inijnji fan and sings our praises around the globe.
It’s lunchtime at Injinji HQ, but you won’t catch us slumped over at our desks with fast food in hand. In fact, most Injinji employees take our lunch hour as a great opportunity to break a sweat and get moving. We’re fortunate enough to have an “InjinGym” right here in our offices, where we test product on treadmills and host Yoga and Pilates classes for staff every other week. We also have a Crossfit gym right down the street which draws Injinji employees in with squat jumps, Olympic lifts, and more.
This past weekend, a team of five Injinji-clad employees and friends mustered up all their strength and headed out to Iron Mountain San Diego for the second race in the King of the Hill Trail Run Series organized by our friends at Gut Check Fitness.
One of the many advantages to having our HQ in San Diego is the access to some of the country’s best races be it a 5K or a 50K. Last month was the Tri City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon and Half, also a Boston Marathon qualifier. If you were there, you may have noticed the orange and white shirts out on the course. These runners and walkers are with Insulindependence, an organization dedicated to revolutionize diabetes management through recreation and adventure.
Airport crippling ice storms, record setting pollution levels, frozen over highways, Sundance Film Festival, a fashion bloggers conference, and the 20,000+ of us attending Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2013 - all converged on the city of Salt Lake last week.
